The Four types of Rattan Furniture

Rattan furniture, both in the seating and placement categories, comes in four types. To a casual viewer they might look all the same, but they belong to totally different groupings. There is a lot of variation in the raw materials used and in the processes that are employed in the production. These are called as Indoor rattan, Natural rattan of limited exposure, Woven loom rattan of limited exposure and the All-Weather rattan. Other than the first type mentioned here, the rest three can be considered as outdoor types. Both indoor and outdoor rattan can be seen in our Essex garden furniture showroom.

The limited exposure types

The weather friendly natural rattan and the loom furniture are meant only for limited outdoor usage. These are wood products that are tightly woven with natural raw materials like rattan and synthetic materials like resin. They are produced with long lasting wear capabilities, as they are given a polyurethane stain and a polyurethane clear-coat finish. The final finish is achieved by dipping the whole product inside a vat that is covered with the necessary materials. With all the above processes, rattan furniture can be used for indoors and canopy covered outdoors. Washable cushions and fabrics are suggested for use on this type of rattan furniture.

Indoor rattan

This rattan furniture is strictly for indoors. Made from natural rattan and other naturally available raw materials, like the sea grass, water hyacinth, and banana fiber, the products in this category are designed for the interiors. Dining hall, reception, bedroom, office and similar places can have the luxury of this furniture. The beautiful patterns that lend a natural atmosphere would make the rooms cheerful and serene at the same time, where furniture of this type is kept. At the finishing stage for these manufactured goods, a polyurethane spray or dip is used as a mild weather and insect resistant. Any type of cushion or fabric cover can be put on these.

All-weather rattan

These types of rattan furniture are recommended for all kinds of outdoors settings. They are made from a combination of natural and synthetic raw materials like vinyl, PVC, etc. Fabrics made of acrylic are suggested for use on this type of furniture, as they are wear resistant and fade resistant and are fully washable.
