Patio Shades and Umbrellas

We’ve all been on the patio for grilling or swimming only to be made miserable and sweaty by the glaring sun blazing down on us at full force without any type of shade to protect us. Not having any shade can be a real problem because it not only makes things less pleasant for guests but also increases our exposure to dangerous UV radiation from the sun. The Patio Umbrella

Of course, the umbrella (also known as parasol) is the favorite choice on most patio furniture sets around the country. They are easy to use because they slip right into the hole on the table and can be opened and closed as needed. You can also use a cantilever parasol for the right look, these tend to have more shading options.

The umbrella is also very easy to store. At the end of the season or when bad weather is approaching, you fold down the umbrella and place it in a garage, yard barn, or even a home closet.

The Canopy

A less traditional option of patio garden shade is the canopy. These are often used at parties because they can protect guests from not only the sun but also from rain. However, you can purchase a smaller one that can be set up in your patio as part of the permanent decorations. It makes a nice covering for patio furniture, as well as for patio swings, recliners, and other items.
