Cane furniture in the tropics
Rattan and wicker furniture is still the first choice for homes in tropical countries on verandahs and formal rooms as it is easy to look after, robust and does not deteriorate or crack in high humidity and temperatures as wood might do. A lot of cane tables have glass tops which is so much easier to wipe up the moisture left by glasses from the humidity and will not stain. Today there is so much variety in cane furniture. Even the colour spectrum is vast, from natural wood stains of mahogany, teak or oak to pastel shades of blues and greens. The choice of cushions range from high backed padded to low and firm. The fabric selection is stunning from plain natural cords weaves and linens of neutral colours of beige, cream or honey to bold designs with motifs, flowers or even elephants of vibrant reds, golds and greens.
Cane and wicker furniture have also become the most popular way to furnish our English conservatories. We can now grow exotic plants, bourgonvilias, vines and citrus trees. Furnish this room with beautiful cane and wicker and cushions of bold colours and adventurous designs. We too can have a small part of the tropics in our homes, sip our pink gins amongst plants, greenery and cane furniture and be transported back to a bygone era, Cheers!
